Elizabeth Reid, Bird & Bird

Elizabeth is a partner in the Commercial Group based in London, with a focus on defence projects. Specialising in complex contracting and projects work, Elizabeth's clients are principally in the defence sector.

Elizabeth has developed strong client relationships with some of the largest defence companies in the world, leading some of the most high-profile and long-term military major programmes across air, land and maritime sectors.

Recent projects Elizabeth has advised on include manufacturing contracts in the defence maritime sector, a strategic alliancing project, the systems integration of a ground-based air defence system, availability based in-service support contracts, in-service support of transport/utility helicopter, a military pilot training PPP, a long-term contract for transporter aircraft maintenance and a contract for the supply of land protected patrol vehicles.

As a result of her sector focus, Elizabeth has in-depth knowledge and experience of the commercial and legal issues associated with defence contracting, including the Single Source Contract Regulations (SSCRs), competitive defence procurement, systems integration and alliancing, the MoD standard form project agreement and DEFCONs (the MoD’s standard form T&Cs).
