Antony Ryan, Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP

Antony L. Ryan is a partner in Cravath’s Litigation Department.   He handles a wide variety of litigation matters, with a particular focus on securities litigation and accountants’ liability.

Mr. Ryan regularly represents clients in federal and state courts around the country.  He also represents companies, accounting firms and individuals in DOJ, SEC and other government investigations and enforcement matters.

Mr. Ryan has been recommended by The Legal 500 United States for his work in securities litigation, as well as for his appellate work.  In 2011, he was recognized by Law360 as one of five outstanding securities lawyers under 40 in the nation.  He was recognized for his work in securities litigation by Chambers USA and Benchmark Litigation and was named one of “500 Leading Lawyers in America” by Lawdragon.

Mr. Ryan maintains an active pro bono practice and is a member of the board of directors of Volunteers of Legal Service.

Mr. Ryan was raised in Amherst, Massachusetts.  He received a B.A. summa cum laude from Yale University in 1992, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.  He received a J.D. magna cum laude from Harvard University in 1995, where he was Supervising Editor of the Law Review, and oralist on the winning team in the Ames Moot Court Competition.  Following graduation, Mr. Ryan served as law clerk to Hon. Judith W. Rogers of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.  He joined Cravath in 1996 and became a partner in 2003.

Philippe Z. Selendy is the Chair of Securities and Structured Finance at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP.  His main practice area is complex civil litigation and arbitration, with an emphasis on financial products, securities, and insurance.  Lauded by the Financial Times as “The Man Who Took on Wall Street,” he has been repeatedly recognized by The American Lawyer, which reported that the Federal Housing Finance Agency “hit the jackpot” by hiring Mr. Selendy as its lead lawyer for its “litigation assault” on the world’s largest banks.  Philippe is nationally ranked in Chambers and Benchmark Litigation, and named a "Leading Lawyer" in America by LawDragon 500.  Described as “outstanding” and “the premier litigator for the recent financial crisis” by The Legal 500, Philippe is also a Law360 MVP and featured on the Plaintiffs’ Hot List by The National Law Journal.  Philippe’s clients include the Federal Housing Finance Agency, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, MBIA, Assured Guaranty, Ambac Assurance, MassMutual, U.S. Bank, and institutional investors and hedge funds.  

Philippe received an A.B. cum laude from Harvard College and a J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School.
