Wim Nauwelaerts is a partner with Hunton & Williams and is the managing partner of the firm’s Brussels office. With more than 15 years of experience, Wim is recognised by Chambers and Partners for privacy and data protection. Wim is a Belgian-qualified lawyer who counsels clients on all aspects of EU and international data protection and privacy law. His work includes advising on the EU data protection reform and compliance requirements under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), implementing data transfer strategies and assisting with EU-US Privacy Shield certifications, advising on privacy implications of cross-border M&A transactions and data security measures, representing clients before data protection authorities, and reviewing privacy policies. He has written and spoken widely on privacy-related topics, such as cloud computing, interest-based advertising, cross-border discovery and privacy compliance in pharmaceutical research.
